Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you might have about our office visit or procedure and provide the answers here. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact us.

1.

Do I need to bring a referral?

If your insurance plan requires a referral, it is your responsibility to make sure our office has one on file.  This may be in a paper or electronic form.

Do I need to pay my co-pay?

You are required to pay your co-pay in full at the time of service.  You have a contract with your insurance company to pay your co-pay.  We have a contract with your insurance company to collect your co-pay.

What will I need for my appointment?

You will need two forms of identification, one of which is a picture ID.  You will also need a valid insurance card, unless you are a self-pay patient.  Please bring an accurate list of medications that you are presently taking, including all over-the-counter and supplemental medications.  Please note dosage as well.

What symptoms do Gastroenterologists evaluate?

Abdominal Pain

Persisent Nausea and Vomiting

Diarrhea or Constipation

Rectal Bleeding

Heartburn or Reflux

Difficulty Swallowing

Weight Loss

Jaundice


5.

Do you do preventative testing?

Recent advances in testing and treatment also permit preventation of many diseases.  Inherited disorders can be identified early and treatment started so that symptoms never develop.  Diseases such as colon cancer can be prevented by routine screening in both regular and high risk patients.

How long does an endoscopic procedure take?

The amount of time that you will be at the DHCI is 2-2 1/2 hours, from the time you walk in until the time you walk out.  At IRMC, plan to be there about 3 or more hours.


7.

Can I drive after my procedure?

It is recommended that you DO NOT drive the rest of the day after your procedure due to being under the influence of anesthetics.  If you are pulled over, you could be fined a DUI.


8.

How much time do I need off to have a procedure?

You only need to take the day of the procedure off unless you work a midnight shift the night before and cannot take the bowel prep at work.


9.

Will the physician call me regarding testing?

Dr. Amin's policy is to call if there is a change in your test results.  If everthing is normal, he will discuss it with you at your next office visit.
